We traveled to Costa Rica with our families (including 3 active boys), and it was an adventure that exceeded every expectation! We hiked rainforests, ziplined through trees, rappelled waterfalls, and rafted the most amazing rivers. Costa Rica offered something magical for every member of our family. We fell in love with the country’s vibrant culture and, along the way, learned the essential items to bring with you on this tropical rainforest getaway.

1. Pelican Watreproof Phone Case
During rafting, tubing and waterfall climbing, keeping our phones waterproof was essential. This phone holder worked perfectly! It's waterproof, fits most phone models, you can use it / take pics while in the case, and, it stays on you with a lanyard.
2. Kooder Shoe Dryers
After a day of hiking, climbing, repelling, or rafting, our shoes tended to be damp. These are life-savers. They dry shoes quickly, emit heat all around the device through air holes, and have over-heating preventative controls. Everybody has a set.
3. Cliganic Mosquito Repellant Bracelets
You are in the rainforest, after all! Taking sprays with you is so inconvenient, and these were super easy to throw on and have with us all day. Great for the whole family. These are deet-free, powered by essential oils, one size fits all (stretchy), and comfortable.
4.I-GO Mini First Aid Kit
With all the amazing activity in Costa Rica, there are bound to be some cuts & bruises. This packable, mini first aid kit served us well! It contains bandages, gauze pads, alcohol pads, cleansing wipes, gloves, and more! It can even hook to your backpack.
5. Rumpl Indoor Outdoor Travel Blanket
This super lightweight, packable puffy blanket goes on every trip! It compresses into a tiny bag and is perfect for chilly airplanes, added warmth in a hotel room, or for sitting outside at night watching creatures from the hotel patio!
6. Hontry Compact Binoculars
We had a blast looking through the trees for sloths, tree frogs and toucans during our hikes. These light, small, compact binoculars have 10X magnification and fit perfectly in our backpacks. They fit into the palm of our hand and the kids could use them too.
7. Zomake Packable Hiking Backpack
This was the perfect backpack for our daily excursions. It is lightweight, foldable (easy to fit in any bag), has multiple pockets, and is water resistant! Comes in many fun colors too!
8. Rainleaf Microfiber Towel
Rather than bring beach towels for waterfalls we brought these! These compact, lightweight towels are super absorbent and easy to throw in a backpack. They were perfect to use drying off after water adventures, hiking and even at the hotel.
9. Retractable Clothesline
A retractable clothesline is a staple for our travel. There is never enough room in hotel rooms to dry or air-out clothes. It’s lightweight, compact, and easy to attach to in your bathroom or balcony area without damaging surfaces. We love how we can pack lighter while still having fresh clothes ready to go for every adventure.
10.Compression Packing Cubes
When going anywere with the kids we always have packing cubes. They keep everyone organized and are a great way to separate dirty and clean clothes along the way. Everybody has their own set. Plus, compression makes room for fun souvenirs!
11.Jisulife Handheld Mini Fan
This pocket fan is a must when you're in a warm destination. It helped us stay cool on hikes and is perfect to fit in your backpack. It's rechargeable and it lasts for 12 hours. Plus, it can act as a flashlight!
Enjoy the recos. Travel well friends.
